Tiruchirappalli is located along the Kaveri River, in Tamil Nadu, India. The headquarters of the district is the city of Tiruchirappalli. During the British Raj, the district was referred to as Trichinopoly, and was a district of the Madras Presidency; Woraiyur , a part of present day Tiruchirappalli, was the capital city of Cholas from 300 B.C. onwards. First, to the Sea Shore temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and Vishnu, and then to Five Rathas "Five Chariots", a monolithic structure, representing an unique style built by the pallavas, then finally to Arjuna's Penance and return back to Chennai.
